The Datavideo VP-634 is a passive SDI signal repeater designed to extend digital video connections in HD-SDI and SD-SDI setups. This solution is designed for studios, broadcast trucks, and sports or live productions where SDI video needs to be transmitted over longer distances. The actual range depends on the cable used and the signal format.

SDI Signal Over Longer Distances

The Datavideo VP-634 is a passive, unpowered HD-SDI/SD-SDI repeater. It helps restore the signal when transmitting video over longer distances and allows repeaters to be integrated into the chain between the source and the VP-633 base unit. It is suitable for television studios, broadcast trucks, sports broadcasts, and other installations where an SDI signal needs to be transmitted further without requiring an additional power outlet for each repeater.

HD-SDI and SD-SDI Input

The VP-634 accepts SD-SDI or HD-SDI digital video signals. It supports standard SD and HD formats, including 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, depending on the source’s frame rate; audio embedded in the SDI signal remains part of the transmitted signal.

Designed for use in a chain with the VP-633

The VP-634 does not require a power adapter on its own. Power is supplied by the VP-633 base unit via the SDI cable; up to three VP-634 repeaters can be connected to a single VP-633. The length of each section depends on the cable and the transmitted format; a properly configured system can achieve a total run length of up to 1,000 m.
