Large CMOS sensor for beautiful bokeh effect with high sensitivity and low noise. The Canon XA 55 camcorder also benefits from enhanced Full HD image quality thanks to higher sample rate HD content processing, while Canon's Log 3 and Wide DR modes allow an even wider dynamic range to be captured.

High-quality 4K lens with 15x zoom

Optimise the quality of your images with the Canon XA55's ultra-wide 25.5mm 4K resolution lens and 15x optical zoom with an ultra-low dispersion lens to minimise chromatic aberration. It provides advanced 5-step image stabilization to cope with shooting on the move or handheld shooting.

Fast and accurate Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology

The XA55 uses Dual Pixel CMOS AF for fast and accurate autofocusing in approximately 80% (vertical and horizontal) of the sensor. Face-detection autofocus and touch tracking enable smooth focus control and intuitive use. The Dual Pixel Focus Wizard provides a graphical interface to simplify manual focusing.

XF-AVC and MP4 recording to SD cards

The XA55 supports recording in multiple formats including XF-AVC and MP4. It records in XF-AVC format with 4K UHD resolution at 160 Mbps at 25P max and Full HD resolution at 45 Mbps at 50P/50i/25P. It can also record in MP4 format with 4K resolution of 150 Mbps at 25P and Full HD resolution of 35 Mbps at 50P/25P. At 4K/Full HD resolution, slow-motion and accelerated recording is also possible at up to 1200x.

Compact and lightweight body, professional features

Powerful features of this model include an infrared mode that allows users to record video in low or no ambient lighting conditions, and simultaneous backup or switch recording with two SD card slots. Other features include 3G-SDI (XA55 model only), professional audio support with two XLR connectors and 4-channel linear PCM modulation, lower power consumption and longer battery life.
