In the second half of March 2025, Blackmagic Design came out with updates to several of its products.
This update adds support for the new Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 camera. This update also adds support for remote control of Blackmagic URSA Cine cameras using the Blackmagic Camera app for iOS. This means you will be able to place the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K camera in an easily accessible location and monitor and control settings such as focus, white balance, frame rate or shutter angle remotely using your phone or iPad. It also allows you to start and stop recording on a connected URSA Cine camera and use it when shooting with multiple cameras. This update also adds user pixel recalibration for Blackmagic URSA Cine models to ensure accurate pixel tuning when the camera has been exposed to extreme temperature changes.
The Blackmagic Camera 9.3 update is now available for download here.
The next update related to the new URSA Cine camera is DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4. This update adds support for Blackmagic RAW files captured with the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 camera. This update also adds support for Apple ProRes encoding on Windows and Linux and support for Samsung Log LUTs. In addition, this update improves the performance of network decoding and exporting embedded AAF files, allowing you to share projects between DaVinci Resolve and audio stations while preserving the timeline structure, embedded media, and metadata.
The DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 update is now available for download here.
This update adds support for Blackmagic RAW recording from Panasonic UB50 cameras to Video Assist 5" 12G HDR and Video Assist 7" 12G HDR models. When recording Blackmagic RAW using Video Assist 12G HDR, you can also save camera settings to metadata. This means that white balance and exposure are encoded into a file that can be read by DaVinci Resolve. However, you can still overwrite these settings later when color correcting the RAW palette.
The Blackmagic Video Assist 3.19 update is now available for download here.
The Blackmagic Videohub 10.1 update adds support for NMOS to Videohub Smart Control Pro and Videohub Master Control Pro. This additional support means you can use any control panel to create connections between sources and destinations on any 2110 IP network, just like a traditional SDI router.

FUJIFILM has just announced the launch of the new "FUJIFILM GFX100RF" camera , which will be available from April 2025! This is the first GFX series camera with a built-in lens and a 102 megapixel large format sensor. It will also be the lightest model in the GFX series, bringing users the ultimate high-resolution shooting experience. The newest addition to the GFX series features a large-format image sensor that is approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor. This 102MP high-speed "GFX 102MP CMOS II" image sensor is also complemented by the high-speed "X-Processor 5" image processing engine. The GFX100RF will be available in black and silver.
QL40B tripod legs with Quick Lock system
Unlike conventional two-stage tripods with leg locks on the top and bottom, the QL40B offers a locking mechanism that allows for quick lock and release. Users can adjust the height of the tripod using the quick locks located only on the top of the legs, making height adjustment and set-up extremely quick and easy. The lack of a lock on the bottom of the tripod means less physical strain on the user, as there is no need to bend over to unlock.
With a weight of 2.6kg, the QL40B offers a load capacity of up to 40kg. In addition, it provides a maximum height of 181.9 cm - approximately 30 cm taller than the current RT30B model, making it even more suitable for a variety of shooting environments, including events and interviews. The QL40B also features an accessory port with 1/4" and 3/8" threads and a handle for easy transport.
Tripod kits based on the QL40B are then available. Interested parties can choose from kits with heads of several different load capacities and with either a bottom or center spacer. The manufacturer plans to ship the goods in April 2025.
