Second generation of the popular Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM portrait lens is coming to the market! The new model (SEL85F14GM2) is both smaller and lighter, and offers higher autofocus performance, higher optical resolution, smoother scene rendering beyond depth of field, and improvements in video shooting.
Sony launch a pair of new camcorders, THE HXR-NX800 a PXW-Z200offering a range of innovations for advanced sports production, live streaming, cultural and social event recording and more. The new HXR-NX800 is the successor to the popular HXR-NX5R, and adds 4K video, an improved lens, Wi-Fi interface and other features, while the PXW-Z200 adds a 12G-SDI interface, time code or MXF support (planned as an update in summer 2025). Both models boast artificial intelligence technology for autofocus with subject recognition, a 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor and up to UHD 60p/120p video recording (XAVC HS/S/SI/HS Proxy up to 16 Mbps), a 20x Sony G zoom lens (24-480mm f/2.8-4.5), a range of image presets (S-Cinetone, ITU709, 709tone, HLG Live), electronic ND filter (1/4-1/128 ND), a new tilting viewfinder, removable microphone holder and 3.5" bright LCD display, lightweight body (approx. 1.93 kg for HXR-NX800, 1.96 kg for PXW-Z200), HDMI A, USB-C and LAN ports, as well as 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi with streaming (RTMP/RTMPS/SRT) and automatic video upload to FTP servers/cloud. On sale during the second half of September.
Sony are planning a launch at the end of July of the second generation of the popular ZV-E10 mirrorless camera, featuring an upgraded Exmor R CMOS sensor with a resolution of approximately 26 effective MP and the latest version of the BIONZ XR image processing engine. Several other new features include improved focusing and video recording (Cinematic Vlog Setting), an improved user interface, an upgraded large-capacity Sony Z battery for longer battery life, and a USB-C 3.2 interface Sony E PZ 16-50 mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II (SELP16502), which offers increased autofocus performance and improvements in video shooting. Both of the introduced innovations will be available at the end of July 2024.
Sony launch new FW for fX6 modelwhich replaces FW 5.0 downloaded shortly after its launch. Version 5.00/5.01 introduces a number of new features including 1.5x image stretching in the viewfinder and HDMI output, a new 709tone Base Look preset, support for Monitor & Control 2.0 (histogram display, false color, 1024x576 preview and more), higher image quality for 3D LUT corrections, breathing compensation support for SEL100400GM and SEL200600G lenses, and a range of other enhancements.
In May they will present Sony FE 16-25 mm f/2.8 G, a new, compact, full-frame wide-angle zoom lens in the Sony G series. It will offer f/2.8 aperture throughout the range as well as outstanding autofocus performance thanks to two linear motors for high-speed sequential shooting and video recording up to 4Kp120.
