DJI Focus Pro, DJI's first independent "Automatic Manual Focus" (AMF) system, provides users with a reliable and comprehensive side focus solution. It integrates LiDAR technology to accurately (76,800 measurement points) focus on objects up to 20m away, and allows the use of the autofocus system to quickly switch to manual mode as well.
The newly designed DJI Focus Pro Grip features a 2.5-hour system power supply, intuitive on-screen controls, automatic calibration and data storage for 15 lenses, start/stop recording via Bluetooth, and manual shooting capabilities, and allows for precise focusing using LiDAR technology even without the Ronin stabilizer.
Equipped with a color touchscreen display, the handle supports LiDAR and motor parameter settings and provides a real-time view of the LiDAR system, giving the user complete visibility during use. The DJI Ronin app includes integrated lens data that can be imported into the Focus Pro engine via a Bluetooth connection to the handle. Data for up to 15 lenses can be stored in a single engine.
The handle can connect directly to mirrorless cameras via Bluetooth and start/stop recording wirelessly. It can also be paired with the DJI Ronin app via Bluetooth to complete manual lens calibration.
More perfect focusing
LiDAR now has a longer focusing distance, up to 20 meters, which is about three times longer than the previous generation, so it can also handle telephoto shooting. A very wide 70° FOV focus range makes it easier to capture edge compositions and close-up shots, greatly increasing creative freedom.
More accurate and stable focusing
The improved LiDAR system now has 76,800 measurement points, 77% more than the previous generation, improving edge detection while effectively reducing the time it takes to find objects to focus on. In addition, thanks to the 30 Hz refresh rate, focusing is reliable even when the object moves quickly. And thanks to new artificial intelligence algorithms, more reliable recognition of people and vehicles can be achieved. Even if an object is momentarily obscured, LiDAR can quickly regain focus.
The autofocus speed can be set in five levels. Lower levels allow finer focusing, while higher levels allow faster and more sensitive focusing. There are also two focus area modes: Wide and Flex Spot. In Wide mode, the LiDAR can automatically detect and focus on people and vehicles. In Flex Spot mode, users can manually select any object they want to focus on.
The Flexible Set
The Focus Pro kit consists of four main modules: the LiDAR, the motor, the handle and the handheld unit. Users can flexibly combine these modules according to different requirements. Independent filmmakers can use the LiDAR autofocus, which greatly enhances shooting efficiency and enables excellent creative results. Collaborating members of larger teams can then take advantage of the greater expressiveness of such a set-up thanks to the precise control of focusing with the handheld unit.
AMF mode
In AMF mode, the front dial on the handheld unit (or the focus dial on the handheld unit) rotates simultaneously during autofocus. This allows filmmakers to visually monitor the focus status on the monitor while intuitively perceiving the autofocus logic through tactile feedback, allowing for quick decision-making when manual intervention is required.
Switching between manual and auto mode
Focus control is always at your fingertips. In AMF mode, manual focus control can be switched on and off in milliseconds. This not only captures the filmmaker's intent with greater precision, ensuring a more coherent way of capturing shots, but also greatly increases the efficiency of the scene by reducing the number of interruptions caused by focus mode changes.
Dynamic Focusing
The innovative AMF function brings unlimited creative possibilities. In AMF mode, the LiDAR function, together with the creator control, provides an efficient and convenient, but also elegant and dynamic focusing. It combines the power and reliability of modern technology with the intuition and creativity of creators. Rotate the dial to achieve focus transition, press and hold the dial to achieve AMF focus lock, ideal for scenes with obstacles in the foreground.
Focus assist
With LiDAR technology, users can get a more intuitive idea of the spatial position of the subject and take advantage of LiDAR Waveform focus assist via the DJI High-Bright remote monitor, giving them a bird's eye view of the entire scene. In addition, the LiDAR Waveform feature provides additional information such as object position, real-time focal plane reference lines, and distance scale to help evaluate autofocus status and predict the optimal moment for manual intervention.
Lens control of the FIZ handheld unit
The handheld unit makes it easy to control the focus, zoom and aperture of the lens. This streamlines work, making it easier to capture more complex scenes. It offers continuous real-time aperture adjustment, communication up to 160m and start/stop shooting via Bluetooth,
The speed of the control engine is approximately 30% faster than the previous generation, with a latency of only 10 milliseconds. The motor torque can be adjusted to match the focus ring tightness of different lenses, ensuring smoother operation. The direction of motor rotation can be flexibly adjusted to suit different mounting positions, and there is no lack of compatibility with 15mm rails.
