The sensor is coupled with the X-Processor 5, which offers a range of exceptional features. The previously extended ISO 125 sensitivity is now native, while shutter speeds have been extended to 1/180,000 s. Even in the brightest conditions, fast apertures remain in play.

When shooting in low light or shooting fast handheld, the IBIS 7EV's stabilisation will certainly mean fewer missed shots. Despite the five-axis stabilization, the X-T5's size and weight remain pleasantly light. In fact, it's smaller than its predecessor, weighing just 557g. Touch controls, external controls and programmable buttons are as present as ever - plus a 3.69 million-dot EVF and 1.84 million dots on the three-sided flip-up LCD monitor. The body is roughened for a good grip and sealed to perfection.

Creativity is also aided by cutting-edge deep learning technology. Auto white balance accuracy is significantly improved - as is autofocus performance. A wide range of objects including faces, animals and vehicles can be recognized and tracked without interruption. In AF-S mode, the most common targets are identified faster than ever before.

While post-production work is a key part of any filmmaking process, streamlining your workflow never hurts. The X-T5's advanced features, such as the smooth skin effect, complement the basic in-camera steps. There are also 19 film simulation modes to choose from, including Nostalgic Neg. mode for gorgeous JPEG images - but the HEIF image format is also available for 10-bit quality in a 30% smaller file.

Although the X-T5 focuses on taking still images, its video capabilities are no less professional. Hybrid or specialized video creators can rely on internal 6.2K 30P recording in 10-bit 4:2:2 color format. When less is more, try resampling your footage in 4K HQ. There's also new F-Log2 technology with over 13 degrees of dynamic range and 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW external recording.
