What is the activation and deactivation procedure for EDIUS?
Installing EDIUS
- Before starting the installation, close all other applications, even those running in the background.
- To install, you must be logged in to your computer with an account that has administrator privileges
- The installation may proceed differently depending on the computer model
- Any older version of EDIUS will be removed during installation. Therefore, back up all your own settings, including keyboard shortcuts, before installation
- An error may occur during installation, depending on the antivirus program used. Check with the manufacturer for updates.
After inserting the installation DVD, the installation dialog will start by itself. If not, select the "Setup" file to install.
- If a previous version of EDIUS is installed on your computer, please uninstall it according to the instructions that appear on the screen. After uninstalling the previous version, restart the computer
- Use of the application is subject to the end user license agreement. If you do not accept these terms, click "Cancel" and do not use this product.
- Make sure you have read the entire license agreement
- If hardware that can be used with EDIUS is installed on your computer prior to installation, you will be asked during installation if you want to install the driver for that device as well. Click on "Install".

Register your serial number
A serial number is required to use this application. If the serial number is not entered, you can use EDIUS in Trial mode for 31 days.
Online activation
Double-click the EDIUS icon on your desktop. During the first start-up, a window for entering and registering the serial number will appear.
For users installing the UPGRADE version - you will first be prompted to enter the previous version of EDIUS you are upgrading from. Only then will you be prompted to enter the serial number of the current version.
- Enter the serial number, which is of the form: 6 characters, hyphen, 16 characters. This number can be found on the packaging of the installation DVD and on the enclosed registration leaflet, where you will also find the web address for registering the product.
- CAUTION - The serial number cannot be reissued. Therefore, keep it in a safe place.
- An alternative activation option is: in the running EDIUS, click on "Help" in the top menu and select "Serial number registration"
Offline activation
If the EDIUS computer is not connected to the Internet, use the following procedure to register the serial number.
1. In the Windows bottom bar on the left in the hidden icons, launch the "GV License Manager" right-click and select "License List" (or simply double left-click the Manager icon).
2. Select Offline Activation Create ID File
3. Select the location where to store the activation ID key and the link to the web activation server.
4. Click OK
5. Copy the files you created in step 3 to a portable drive and transfer them to a computer that is connected to the Internet. Open the GV Activation Server link, enter the EDIUS serial number in the appropriate box, and Submit.
6. Click on "Manual Activation"
7. Select "Browse" and locate the ID.key file you created in step 3 and brought in on the portable drive. Then click on "Submit".
8. Select "Save to File" and click "Save"
9. Copy the newly created file to the portable disk and transfer it to the computer running EDIUS.
10. In GV License Manager, select "Offline Activation Register Activation File"
11. Select the .xml file created in step 8 and click on "Open"
Manage activations
You can easily check the status and number of free/used activations online: http: //activation1.grassvalley.com/flexnet/operationsportal/logon.do
After logging in with your EDIUS serial number, you will see the number of used licenses in the "Manage Licenses" tab and the number of free licenses of the serial number in the "Offline Activation" tab.
ATTENTION: Activation (whether done online or offline) is linked to a specific computer! If you are going to reinstall the computer, for example, you must first deactivate EDIUS and return the license to the GV Activation Server, otherwise it will expire when the disk is deleted.
Deactivation
Deactivation is done in a similar way to activation.
If EDIUS is on a computer connected to the Internet, select the first "Online Deactivation" icon in the GV License Manager.
If it is on a computer that is not connected, you select the "Offline Deactivation Create ID File" icon and proceed as for activation (see above), i.e., save the deactivation "ID.key" and the "GV ActivationServer.url" link to a portable disk and transfer them to the computer connected to the Internet.
Here you start the "GV ActivationServer.url" link, log in with your EDIUS serial number, select "Manual Activation" in the "Offline Activation" tab, select the deactivation "ID.key" and take the newly created deactivation key "responseXML.xml" on the portable disk to the EDIUS computer.
Here, you then click on the "Offline Deactivation Register Activation File" icon in the GV License Manager, select the deactivation key "responseXML.xml" on the portable disk and the deactivation is complete - i.e., the 31-day "Trial Version" continues, if not already exhausted.
WARNING: If you wish to reactivate EDIUS on the same computer, you will need to repeat the activation procedure again. The original activation file from a previous activation is only valid for one activation and cannot be used even if it is the same computer.
