From uncompromising news to international sports, the Nikon D6 is the answer to the demands of professionals who need the perfect combination of speed and precision. With Nikon's most powerful autofocus system to date and fast real-time image transfer, this full-frame DSLR delivers incredible images of breakthrough moments. Without hesitation.
All the experience and planning - it all comes together when the camera you use can respond to any situation. Resist any extremes. With a new AF system, EXPEED 6 processor, durable body and fast camera connectivity options, this digital single-lens reflex camera lets you deliver perfect images from anywhere. You can't control the action, the lighting or the surrounding environment. But you can control the D6.
How do you manage to capture everything? A special AF system that's faster than ever. 105 selectable cross-type sensors with 1.6X higher coverage density than the D5. Auto focus with multiple customizable settings to select from a group of arrays for unparalleled subject tracking. Enhanced scene recognition system taking object focusing to the next level. The D6 gives you more ways to anticipate and capture the action than ever before.
A larger range of selectable autofocus patterns with a choice of a group of arrays lets you optimize your AF setup for every task. Avoid solid obstacles in your field of view, such as tennis nets, and capture clearer action shots
The D6 is the first DSLR camera to enable priority focusing on the subject's eyes when using autofocus with auto field selection or three-dimensional tracking. With a combination of wider and denser focus point coverage, you'll capture that determined gaze.
With the D6, you can define the starting point of focus when shooting in Auto Focus with Auto Field Select mode. Information from all 105 focus points is used to focus and track your subject: and you can concentrate on composition.
Tracking is phenomenally accurate, even in the most difficult lighting conditions imaginable. AF sensitivity down to -4.5 EV for the centre focus point and -4 EV for the other points lets you track the action into the night.
When the action is fast and you only have one chance to get a shot, the D6 lets you take advantage of continuous shooting at up to 14 frames per second with full AF/AE. The camera's redesigned mirror mechanism dramatically reduces shake due to mirror bumps, resulting in sharper, more stable images in the viewfinder.
In silent shooting mode, you can capture full-resolution images at up to 10.5 fps with AE tracking. Noiseless shooting of time-lapse video sequences and interval shooting are also possible: images are captured using the electronic shutter, preventing wear and tear on the mechanical shutter.
Want to show even the smallest fragment of movement? In Movie Live View mode, the D6 lets you capture still image sequences at 8 megapixels at up to 30 fps and 2 megapixels at 60 fps. AE is available at both shooting rates.
If you're working under time pressure, the quality of the files straight out of the camera is critically important. The D6 delivers exceptionally clear images, and the new Auto White Balance algorithm delivers phenomenal color accuracy and brighter skin tones. Dynamic range is exceptional at both high and low ISO sensitivities. Whether you're shooting indoors in the stadium or out on the slopes, the winning shot is yours.

Dynamic range is exceptional at both high and low ISO sensitivities. Whether you're shooting indoors in the stadium or out on the slopes, the winning shot is yours.
Watch the action in real time, even when you're shooting at high frame rates and with a long lens. The optical viewfinder with 0.72x magnification and OLED elements provides precise subject tracking without lag.
The viewfinder displays both lateral and fore-aft tilt indicators.
Unpredictability means nothing when you can adapt quickly and smoothly to any situation. The recall function for pre-programmed settings now includes white balance settings, AF patterns and autofocus lock.
You can simultaneously record JPEG+ and JPEG images to the dual CFexpress and XQD card slots. You can easily assign small or medium-sized JPEG files to the secondary card slot for faster image transfer.
Multiple choices of images to transfer give you an advantage when every second counts. Use the primary slot to confirm focus on a larger JPEG+ image, then switch to the secondary slot to quickly transfer small or medium-sized JPEG images. Unwanted images can be removed from both slots simultaneously.
Copyright information, ratings, and voice memos can be stored in the camera, then applied to images by simply moving up or down. When sorting images, you can remove images with voice memos or just the voice memos. During playback, you can filter files by protection, rating, and transfer status.
When transferring images to your computer via a wired LAN or Wi-Fi camera connection, you can move your best images to the front of the queue. During playback, you can prioritize images by swiping quickly or pressing the FN button.
Upload images to social media directly from the racetrack. When connected via Bluetooth, the camera can transfer images to a smart device with the SnapBridge app installed. The smart device can also be used as a simple remote control
Connect to your computer using the camera's built-in Wi-Fi connection. Or use the compatible WT-6 wireless transmitter to connect to a wireless network up to a distance of 200 m. The WT-6 supports IEEE802.11ac wireless LAN and can be used as a remote receiver in HTTP mode.
Connect a network cable to the camera and transfer images directly to a computer or FTP server at high speed. The camera's wired LAN interface supports the 1000BASE-T standard and achieves approximately 15% faster communication than the acclaimed D5.
Higher resolution displays offer better visibility and readability. Ergonomic enhancements free up space and ensure easy access to key ports, even when shooting with a wireless transmitter attached.
The D6 is also compatible with proven Kensington locks, so you can ensure the security of your cameras when working with multiple system configurations.
From extreme temperatures and humidity to bumping your camera against the telephoto lens when carrying gear. The D6 retains the rugged body that made the D5 such a favorite among professionals. If you're shooting in a situation where the camera is the last thing you want to worry about - then don't.
If you're heading out to a place where news is being made, you want to be sure that the system won't let you down. Nikon Professional Services can provide you with technical advice, repairs and even equipment rentals at the shooting location or service center. From major sporting events to big cultural moments.
