Successor to the popular AK-HC3800 studio camera, the AK-HC3800 brings new HDR features, expanded format support (1080: 59.94p, 50p, 59.94i, 50i, 29.97PsF, 25PsF, 23.98PsF; 720: 59.94p/50p), and the option of a future upgrade to 4K 60p/50p. The affordable AK-HC3900GJ/GSJ studio cameras (with Tajimi and LEMO connectors, respectively) are a complete system for 1080p HDR production, with optional upgrades to 4K 60p/50p! The HC3900 follows in the footsteps of its successful predecessor, the AK-HC3800, which reigned supreme in professional, affordable studio solutions for nearly a decade.

New features of the AK-HC3900G include simultaneous HDR/SDR support, expanded standards support (1080: 59.94p, 50p, 59.94i, 50i, 29.97PsF, 25PsF, 23.98PsF; 720: 59.94p/50p), and the option of a future upgrade to 4K 60p/50p and guarantees a resolution of 2000 TV lines in the event of a future upgrade to 4K. The camera also boasts high sensitivity (F10 at 59.94 Hz, 2,000 lx) and a signal-to-noise ratio of 62 dB. A motorised ND filter tray is standard.

The new CCU and ROP unit models are launched simultaneously with the new AK-HC3900 studio camera. The AK-HCU250PJ/PSJ/EJ/ESJ CCU unit allows - in combination with the new AK-HRP250GJ control panel - to transmit the uncompressed camera signal via fiber optics or hybrid SMPTE cabling (along with power supply). The CCU supports all HC3800 features including simultaneous HDR/SDR output, extended format support and 4K upgrade. New features include 3G Trunk and 3G Prompter; new ROP panels support PoE power for easier installation. An interesting new feature of these CCUs and ROP units is also an SD slot allowing device settings to be stored (or firmware upgraded).

There are several color EVFs to choose from, a 9" AK-HVF100GJ model, a 7" AK-HVF75G LCD viewfinder or a 3.45" AJ-CVF25GJ.
