The RØDE Podcaster is a dynamic microphone with USB output that combines broadcast quality sound with the simplicity of USB connectivity, allowing you to record directly to your computer without the need for an additional digital interface.

The Podcaster features an A/D converter with 18-bit resolution and a 48kHz sample rate, which it uses to internally process all analog-to-digital conversion, completely bypassing the poor quality internal computer audio driver.

The Podcaster's microphone shape is reminiscent of the popular EV R E20, and the specs show a strong onset around 10 kHz, which should ensure a distinctive, clear sound. Since the microphone has a cardioid directional characteristic, it significantly reduces the amount of ambient unwanted noise.

The headphone output located on the body of the microphone allows for zero-latency monitoring, so the user can hear exactly what is being recorded. Simply plug the headphones into the prepared microphone port, set the control to the desired listening volume level and then just hear your voice without any delay or latency.

The microphone features an internal pop filter that is designed to minimize plosive sounds that can overload the microphone capsule and thus distort the audio output.

Podcaster is fully compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS X, as well as several Linux systems. The microphone is powered via a USB bus and has an LED to indicate operation.

It can also be used with an Apple iPad (in conjunction with the iPad Camera Connection Kit and powered USB hub) to create high quality recordings for various audio applications such as Garageband.
