UV filters are ideal for photography at high altitudes (mountains), by the sea and in areas with very clean air. Images gain brilliance and distracting blue tints are eliminated. Because the glass is colorless, the color will not change, except to remove unwanted blue flare, and there is no need to increase exposure. This makes UV filters very useful as lens glass protection against dust, flying sand, seawater and the like.
