The X400 is an affordable, professional ENG camera with a 2/3" sensor and B4 bayonet. It offers a perfect balance of performance and ease of use, as well as a very ergonomic and perfectly balanced body for comfortable all-day shoulder shooting. The camera boasts advanced features for wireless connectivity, recording to both modern and classic codecs, 1080p60 format support and 10-bit sign
Better ergonomics
The camera body is perfectly balanced for maximum comfort when shooting from the shoulder, even when working all day. Sony designed the body based on testing of popular ENG lenses and balanced it so that the weight of the device rests on the shoulder, not the cameraman's wrist. Of course, the balance can be changed by moving the shoulder rest
Great image quality
With three powerful 2/3" Sony CMOS sensors, the PXW-X400 delivers high image quality in Full HD resolution, a good signal-to-noise ratio (62 dB) and high sensitivity (F12 @ 1080/60i). With the B4 bayonet - which is standard in the news and sports industry - you can choose from a plethora of servo transfocals..
Format support
Many conventional ENG cameras support a maximum resolution of 1080/60i; the PXW-X400 is also capable of 1080/60p recording. The same goes for bit depth, unlike the still commonly used 8-bit technology and 4:1:1 or 4:2:0 sampling, the X400 offers 10-bit colour at 4:2:2 sampling. Recording is done to the highly efficient XAVC Intra and XAVC Long codecs, which record high quality video even at lower bitrates (min. 25 Mbps), saving SxS card space. It also supports recording to MPEG-2 HD 422, MPEG-2 HD 420, MPEG IMX and DVCAM formats (in MXF wrapper) for greater compatibility with older equipment
The newest addition to the Sony PXW family - the PXW-X400 - offers advanced features for wireless connectivity, XAVC-Long 60P codec support, a perfectly balanced body, recording to reliable SxS cards, and Pool Feed for distributed signal. The camera is available in three configurations (body only or KC and KF variants with viewfinder, stereo rifle and 20x zoom with manual focus or 16x transfocus with autofocus). It meets all the requirements of modern TV production - connectivity, ergonomics and high performance!
Advanced network functions
The camera is equipped with features for wireless video streaming, proprietary Quality of Service (QoS) protocol, MPEG TS video streaming, transfer to FTP servers, or remote control via Wi-Fi/NFC-enabled mobile devices (this function is implemented as a firmware update). In case of unavailability or low stability of wireless network connections, a standard Ethernet (RJ-45) network interface can be used -- both for connection to an FTP server and for live video streaming or remote control of the camera using a web browser. The Content Browser Mobile app (Android/iOS) makes it easy to remotely set the device's parameters. The ONLINE button is used to quickly connect/disconnect networks, start/stop streaming video, etc

To record external signal sources - for example, if a location is allowed to be filmed with one camera - the X400 is equipped with Pool Feed. This allows external signals to be recorded on SxS cards. Of course, there is a slot for a wireless microphone receiver, AES/EBU digital inputs and an output on a 5-pin XLR connector. A special 50-pin interface allows the camera to be connected to Triax adapters or optics (sold separately)
