Tilta 4*5.65 Carbon Fiber Matte Box (Clamp-on) with 95mm Back

The Tilta MB-T12-M95 is a carbon fiber clamp-on matte box for three 4×5.65″ filters in the version with a single 95 mm backing. It clamps directly onto the front of the lens, so it needs neither rods nor a rubber donut, and comes with three filter trays, five hard mattes, a top flag against flare and a 15 mm LWS rod adapter. Backings for other diameters are sold separately.

The Tilta 4×5.65 Carbon Fiber Matte Box (Clamp-on) with 95mm Back is the same carbon matte box as the full MB-T12 kit, only with a single backing — for lenses with a 95 mm front diameter. If your lenses share one diameter, it is the cheaper route to the same matte box; further backings are added as further lenses arrive.

One 95 mm backing instead of five

The 95 mm backing screws to the rear of the matte box and tightens directly around the front of the lens — no rods and no rubber donut that would otherwise seal the gap. Compared with the full MB-T12 kit only the other backings (80, 110, 114 and 134 mm) are missing, and those are sold separately as MB-T12-xx; body, trays, mattes, top flag and rod adapter are the same.

Three 4×5.65″ filters in trays

The rear of the matte box takes three 4×5.65″ filter trays — ND, polarizer and diffusion at once — and each tray slides out on its own, so a filter is swapped without taking the build apart. Three trays come in the box. The carbon body with aluminum and stainless steel parts keeps the weight down so that a matte box with a full set of filters loads neither the clamp on the lens nor the gimbal.

Top flag, hard mattes and rod adapter

The top French flag shades the lens from side light, and five hard mattes for focal lengths of 16–20, 24–28, 32–35, 50–85 and 85–180 mm crop the field of view to what the lens actually sees. And when you would rather hang the matte box on the cage — with heavier filters or a lens without a suitable front — the included adapter mounts it on a pair of 15 mm LWS rods.

The MB-T12 is sold as a full kit with five clamp-on backings, or as a version with a single backing matching your lens diameter (80, 85, 95, 110, 114 or 134 mm). Additional backings, 4×5.65″ filter trays, the carbon fiber top flag and the 15 mm LWS rod adapter are sold separately, so the matte box grows as lenses are added.
