Tilta Cold Shoe Adapter for Tilta Mirage

The Tilta MB-T16-CSA adapter gives the Mirage matte box a cold shoe centered above the lens. It fits in place of the top flag and carries small accessories — a compact LED light or the DJI LiDAR range finder — right on the lens axis, where there is otherwise nowhere to put them. It is aluminum alloy, adds next to nothing to the matte box and clamps with a single lever.

The Tilta Cold Shoe Adapter for Mirage expands the mounting options of the Mirage matte box: into the slot where the top flag normally sits, it puts an arm with a cold shoe centered above the lens. It is the shortest way to get a LiDAR range finder or a light onto a camera with Mirage so that they point where the lens points.

In place of the top flag

The adapter slides into the same receiver on the top edge of the Mirage that the top flag uses, and is tightened with a lever, no tools needed. The cold shoe then sits centered directly above the front of the lens. Flag and adapter take turns in the slot — both cannot be fitted at once, so for shots that need shading from above, the adapter comes off again. It takes a few seconds, and neither the matte box nor the filter cartridges are taken apart for it.

Cold shoe for LiDAR and lights

The shoe is a standard cold shoe, so anything with a matching foot fits: the DJI LiDAR range finder, which thanks to its position above the lens measures exactly on the axis of the frame, a small LED light, a receiver or a microphone. The arm is aluminum alloy and weighs so little that it neither loads nor tips the matte box; with the clamping lever and two screws it sits firmly in the slot even with an accessory of its own weight on top.

Mirage is a lightweight matte box for 95 mm circular filters: it mounts to the lens with an adapter ring matching the filter thread, filters sit in stackable cartridges and an optional wireless motor turns the VND module. The parts of the Mirage family combine — rings, cartridges, VND, 15 mm rod support and hood all belong to the same matte box, including this one.
