Tilta Tiltaing Side Power Handle Type II (F970 Battery) - Tilta Gray

The Tilta TA-SH2-97-G is a Tiltaing Side Power Handle Type II side handle with an ARRI rosette mount: it fits the Tiltaing full cage for Z CAM and any other ARRI rosette. It takes a Sony F970 battery underneath and powers accessories from it through 8 V Micro USB and 12 V DC outputs; the back carries a holder for a Samsung T5 SSD. No run/stop button. Aluminium alloy and stainless steel, colour Tilta Gray.

The Tilta TA-SH2-97-G turns the side handle into the power hub of the rig: the F970 battery in the handle feeds a focus motor or a monitor, and the Samsung T5 SSD sits in the holder right by the hand instead of somewhere on a cable.

F970 battery and two outputs

The bottom of the handle holds a Sony NP-F970 battery. Two outputs run from the battery: 8 V over Micro USB — this powers the Tilta Nucleus Nano focus motor — and 12 V over a DC connector for a monitor or a wireless transmitter. The external power source thus disappears from the cage and the battery is where the hand holds it anyway. The handle powers, it does not control: it has no run/stop button.

Samsung T5 SSD holder

Built into the back of the handle is a holder for a Samsung T5 SSD — the drive many cameras record to over USB-C. The drive sits firmly by the handle, the cable stays short and nothing dangles off the cage. The strap across the back of the hand keeps the palm on the handle even through long handheld takes.

ARRI rosette on the full cage for Z CAM

The Type II mount is an ARRI rosette: the handle fits either of the two rosette connections on the Tiltaing full cage for Z CAM and any other ARRI rosette — on a cage, an arm or the base of the rig. The rosette holds the angle with its teeth, so the handle does not twist even under load, yet loosening the screw lets it fold to wherever the hand needs it.

Tiltaing handles and plates

The Tiltaing range builds the rig around the cage from parts that fit together: side handles with a REC button powered by a Sony F570/F970 battery or USB-C PD, wooden and quick-release top handles, handle adapters to an ARRI rosette, 15 mm LWS baseplates with a Manfrotto or ARCA plate and battery plates with P-Tap and USB-C outputs. They share 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads with ARRI locating pins, NATO rails and ARRI rosettes. This part is one of them.
