The HS8S 8" Powered Subwoofer from Yamaha features an eight-inch cone woofer that is capable of up to 150W of output. It can reproduce frequencies down to 22Hz and features variable low and high cut filters between 80 and 120Hz. You can connect to the HS8S through its stereo XLR or 1/4" TRS inputs. It also has stereo XLR extension sub outputs.
Low-resonance housing design
HS Series enclosures are designed to eliminate unwanted resonances and increase sound reproduction accuracy to the extreme limit. The cabinets are constructed from dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also used the traditional three-way mitered-joint folding technique. This design, common in architectural design, firmly anchors the cabinet corners to increase durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can affect the overall sound
Noise reduction technology
The design of the speaker ports can significantly affect the clarity of the overall sound. Often, a vortex at either end of the port can create air vibrations inside the port, causing unwanted noise. By adopting noise reduction technology that incorporates analysis of the visual representation of the sound, Yamaha engineers can control and reduce the vortex. Through this analysis, Yamaha has arrived at a port design that reduces noise by up to 6 dB
Control and connectivity
The HIGH CUT control adjusts the cutoff frequency of the subwoofer's high-frequency output attenuation from 80 Hz to 120 Hz, while the PHASE switch adjusts the phase of the subwoofer's output. The LOW CUT switch and LOW CUT controls enable low frequency attenuation for the output from 80 Hz to 120 Hz. The HS8S subwoofer features XLR inputs and TRS phone jacks, and XLR outputs for L and R and EXT SUB out
