Despite their high optical quality and sophisticated design, Zeiss CP.3 film lenses are affordable and, thanks to the possibility of changing the bayonet, a safe investment for the future. The new lenses follow on from the popular CP.2 fixed focal length lens series: the Zeiss brand guarantees top image quality and high operational reliability. The lenses combine clear, sharply rendered images with interchangeable bayonet technology and full-frame sensor coverage. They are now also available in an "XD" version with real-time metadata recording describing the lens characteristics.
New "eXtended Data"technology
ZEISS eXtended Data technology offers entirely new possibilities for image post-production, even for productions with lower budgets. The technology integrates two basic data sets: lens setup and performance data based on the Cooke /i standard -- which is supported by a wide range of accessories and cameras -- as well as Zeiss-specific data with highly accurate lens-specific characteristics. This technology provides real-time information on the distortion characteristics of the optical system and vignetting to accelerate image adjustments directly at shooting locations or during post-production. Data is stored for each shot, eliminating laborious manual data logging for each shot.
Cinematic look
ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 and CP.3 XD lenses offer ten models with focal length ranges from 15mm - 135mm, covering a wide range of applications, from wide-angle units to telephoto shots. ZEISS CP.3 series lenses use a number of advanced technologies including special anti-glare lens surfaces and light traps inside the lens barrel. The result is reduced optical artifacts, higher contrast, richer dark shades and more saturated colors.
Compact design
Thanks to its very compact and lightweight design, the CP.3 is also suitable for stabilizer rigs or for shooting in confined spaces (e.g. automotive interiors). The consistent size and weight of most models in the series ensure that the lenses can be changed quickly and easily. The very smooth operation of the focus ring then allows the use of small side focus motors.
Perfect ergonomics
ZEISS CP.3 series lenses are professional filmmaking tools: they are lightweight, superbly crafted and easy to use. Thanks to the standardized position of the focusing ring and the consistent front diameter (95 mm), they allow quick lens changes. In addition, thanks to new design techniques, extremely smooth operation of the focusing ring has been achieved even in extreme heat conditions. The same lens aperture values (T 2.9 for 15 -- 21 mm focal lengths and T 2.1 for 25 -- 135 mm) make it easy to light the scene and adjust the camera's exposure parameters.
