The new generation of COOLSHOT rangefinders by Nikon

Nikon yesterday announced new features on two laser rangefinders from its COOLSHOT range. The flagship COOLSHOT PROIII STABILIZED now boasts faster speeds and the mid-range COOLSHOT 50i GII model has a stronger mounting magnet. Both new models also feature brighter OLED screens with a red internal display, improved ergonomics and a new design with a yellow Nikon stripe.

COOLSHOT PROIII STABILIZED

The next-generation COOLSHOT PROIII STABILIZED is Nikon's fastest and most accurate rangefinder yet. Designed for golfers looking to improve accuracy, it offers lightning-fast readings and flawless images. The HYPER READ technology, which is 3x faster than before, delivers readings in 0.1 seconds regardless of distance. Nikon' s powerful stabilization system counteracts the effects of hand tremors and environmental factors (such as wind) and stabilizes the measuring laser and viewfinder image.

• Golf mode displays slope-adjusted distance and actual distance. Or use Actual Distance Mode, Actual Distance and Height Mode or Horizontal Distance and Height Mode.
• Waterproof and Fogproof: Waterproof design (to a depth of 1 m for 10 minutes) and fogproof. The battery compartment is rainproof (equivalent to JIS/IEC Class 4/IPX4 protection, under Nikon test conditions).

COOLSHOT 50i GII

Key features:

• Strong mounting magnet: For securely mounting the rangefinder to metal surfaces such as the frame of a golf cart.
• Two measurement modes: slope mode displays slope-adjusted distance and actual distance. Or select Actual Distance Mode, which is enabled for tournament play.
• Rainproof: The body and battery compartment are rainproof (equivalent to JIS/IEC Class 4/IPX4 protection, under Nikon test conditions).
  

Both of these new laser rangefinders also feature Nikon's latest DUAL LOCKED ON QUAKE technology, which now emits a gentle vibration and also provides a visual signal - to confirm that the distance to the flag has been measured. Finally, the new OLED screens feature displays with bright red letters and numerals that provide excellent visibility of measurements even in low light conditions.

Key features common to both models:

• Brighter OLED screen with red inner display: crisp and clear image with clearly visible red numbers and letters.
• Nikon optics: monocular with multiple anti-reflective coatings and 6x magnification for a bright, clear image; adjustable diopter correction for perfect focus.
• DUAL LOCKED ON QUAKE: Now provides a visual signal and subtle vibration when the rangefinder measures the distance to the flag.4, 5
• Continuous measurement for up to 8 seconds: get multiple distances in one shot.
• Actual Distance Indicator (ADI).
• Ergonomic design: both rangefinders weigh just 205g and the body, which is slightly larger than the previous model, has a rubberised grooved surface to ensure a stable grip.
• Large exit pupil advance: means no need to take off your glasses when aiming at a target.
