Panasonic introduces a new representative of the series LUMIX S, the S9! The new ultra-compact FF mirrorless camera with L-Mount is available in attractive colour options (Jet Black, Crimson Red, Dark Olive and Classical Blue) and features a powerful 24.2MP FF sensor (from the S5M2), PDAF focusing and effective image stabilisation (up to 5 EV, 6.5 EV with lens). Compared to the more powerful S5M2 model, it offers a very compact body (126 x 74 x 47 mm vs. 134 x 102 x 90 mm) and low weight (486 g incl. battery and card vs. 740 g) at the expense of no viewfinder (only 3" 1.84MP tilt/turn display), flash cartridge, one slot for UHS-II media or elimination of headphone output. The manufacturer has put emphasis on easy video sharing (new "MP4 Lite" recording mode, 50 Mbps, max 3.8K 30p 4:2:0 10-bit) and simple creation and application of LUT corrections, which have now also earned a dedicated button on the body of the device and new Lumix LAB software. Of course, there is also the option to record standard video formats incl. C4K/4K 60p/50p (4:2:2, 10-bit) and FHD 120p/100p. A super-compact manual "pancake" lens was also introduced simultaneously LUMIX S 26 mm f/8which, with its dimensions (18.1 mm long) and weight of approx. 58 g, was tailored to the spontaneous nature of the new S9. The new LUMIX will go on sale around mid-June (standalone body and 20-60mm and 28-200mm lens kits), while the other new lens introduced (the LUMIX S 18-40 mm f/4.5-6.3, also aimed at S9 users) has no launch date or further details yet.
